Client Resources
For clients with complex or early trauma histories, the therapy process involves phases in order to safely pace the work. The most important thing the client can do is to work diligently on skills and resources that will help with the process of containment and stabilization. This is a short phase for some, whose childhoods were pretty darn good, and more lengthy for those who have always struggled with the idea that they should not have needs or feelings, or who felt invisible, unheard, or unprotected.
This page is under development. It will be a collection of resources clients can use to build their tool kit of resources and coping strategies.
YouTube Video Playlists
For starters, please go to our YouTube Channel and see the various playlists there. Because indigenous music is close to the earth, deeply moving and primitive, there are playlists for various Native American and Native Hawaiian music, dance, and spiritual healing songs.
There is a playlist on neuroscience and play, because among our many emotional circuits that our brain is born with, the PLAY circuit is a most important one. It is a path out of stuckness, a way to engage our brain in a new way, a social way, for growth, healing and expression. Please view the videos on the laughing baby, the slow lorus, the polar bear and the husky and the courageous puppy to get a sense of how the mammalian PLAY circuit guides behavior and is important.
There is also a playlist about how attachment styles effect relationship patterns, as expressed in popular music. As you listen to the songs, guess what types of attachment styles are expressed in the song. People's relationship styles are often reenactment of their early primary caretaking relationships and the attachment history there.
