In addition to conventional psychotherapy, Sandra consults in several other capacities when appropriate:


Brief Intensive Work

Some individual clients choose to travel to Bainbridge
Island to engage in brief intensive work with Dr. Paulsen. 
This approach is especially suitable for those seeking the
Early Trauma Clearing approach, standard EMDR,
assessment for dissociation, and certain other conditions
and treatment.  Speak with Sandra directly to discuss
whether your goals, symptoms, and capacities
are consistent with this approach.  f

Phone Therapy

Some individuals find telephone psychotherapy to be
beneficial.  Sandra spends hours each week working with
people by phone. Complex PTSD and dissociation is not
typically suitable for telephone work, unless a trusting therapeutic relationship has first been established. 


Consultation to Professionals

Mental health professionals often consult with Sandra by phone on special advanced procedures. Sandra is an EMDRIA certified consultant, a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and was invited faculty to the First World Congress of Ego State Therapy in Bad Orb Germany.  Dr Paulsen also conducts consultation in person or by phone with groups of mental health professionals.  She has also consulted extensively with corporations, executives, clergy, and other specialty groups.   Mental health professionals should understand that consultation is not supervision.  Supervision here means that the supervisee is not a licensed mental health professional but rather is in training to be one. Sandra does not do supervision.  Consultation is when the consultee is a licensed mental health professional, and seeks additional specialty information from Sandra, the consultant.  However, the consultee is still responsible for the standard of care in his/her own state for that patient(s) about which the consultation is arranged.  Sandra assumes no responsibility for clinical outcomes of consultees' patients.
