BREAKING NEWS....SANDRA PAULSEN

Sandra will be co-editing a book integrating leading edge neuroscience and clinical practice in the treatment of trauma and dissociation.  This book proposal has been accepted by Springer Publishing Co.

Sandra is also co-authoring two books on the treatment of early trauma with a special EMDR protocol, with Katie O'Shea. One book will be for therapists and one book will be for clients.

The workshops scheduled for Kobe, Japan that were cancelled for swine flu concerns in that country, are scheduled to be given in 2010. More information as planning firms up.

Sandra will be presenting conference papers in 2009 at these three venues:

-  EMDR International Association in Atlanta in August on EMDR, Somatic work and ego state therapy in the treatment of conversion seizures, in August.

- SCEH (Society for Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis) in Reno on the use of cartoons as a right-hemisphere intervention for trauma survivors, in October

- ISST&D (International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation) in Baltimore in November on clearing affective circuits, in November,

- She'll also be teaching a two day workshop in Milwaukee in October 2009 on the EMDR protocol for clearing very early trauma, "When There Are No Words."

Sandra's Seattle consult groups, which have been running for several years in Pioneer Square, will be wrapping up at the end of 2009, as Sharon Baker retires. Sharon made her offices available for the groups.  Rather than find a new location, Sandra will be using those fridays for meeting her writing commitments.  Found time!

TIM IISTOWANOHPATAAKIIWA

Tim left June 23 for 10 days at Sun Dance, the most sacred of the Plains ceremonies.
Thursday is Tree Day, when a tree is mysteriously transformed from an enemy, into the very face of God.  Tim may not dance this year, having pierced and danced the full four days with no food and water many, many times. As an elder, now his role is helping the next generation learn the traditions and dance in a sacred manner.  Tim has taken with him the prayer ties prepared by individuals in his spiritual direction practice, and will tie them to the tree. In that way, we can all participate in this sacred time of healing for the people.

July - Tim is back and remarkably restored, again, by participating in this traditional way within his traditional community or Tiospia, which means family.

JAAK PANKSEPP

The renowned neuroscientist, also called, "The Rat Ticker," is publishing a lay version of his seminal book, "Affective Neurosciences," to make available the important findings  about the hard-wired emotional circuits of the brain.  Sandra and Jaak are working on a cartoon that may be included in that book that represents the emotional workings of the brain.
