Sandra Paulsen, PhD, is a clinical and consulting psychologist who has accompanied many people on their extraordinary healing journeys for over two decades. She is a senior practitioner and instructor of advanced EMDR procedures and ego state therapy.  She received two years of training in somatic therapy.

Sandra has published and spoken widely on the use of ego state therapy and EMDR to resolve complex and dissociative conditions.  Sandra is an EMDR Institute facilitator and EMDR International Association certified practitioner, consultant and advanced specialty workshop instructor.  She is a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. She has trained hundreds of mental health professionals in these special procedures since 1993.   Dr. Paulsen consults extensively to senior executives, attorneys, physicians, dentists, performing artists and other professionals to assist in enhancing performance to the highest levels.

Sandra lives in a log house on Bainbridge Island amid the forest. She has chosen to walk the Native American spiritual path.
Goyatle was a courageous Apache holyman and warrior. In a sacred manner he lived, that the People might live.   His courageous spirit is a resource. His choices were not always popular, not only with the American government, eager to prevail over Native American ways, but also with his own people.  His choice to fight brought sorrow to many.  The path of a spiritual warrior is never easy.  He was called "Geronimo" because the Mexican soldiers cried out for help to St Jerome in battle against him.
Tatonka, the buffalo, is a sacred resource because he gives his all that the People might live.
Michelle, the seven pound poodle, assists Sandra in her work by greeting clients, grounding and orienting them to the office, and letting them know when the session is over.  Michelle is a gentle soul, and a natural healer and resource.
Iktomi, the paint (left) and Tjukka, the Norwegian fjord horse (right) are animal resources. In the plains understanding, horses are "sacred dogs with rocks for feet" or shunka wakan.  These and all manner of resources help empower and strengthen people in physical form or in imagination.  Resourcing is key to safe work.
